What I help with
Reporting beyond the standard reports
Your funds, donors, grants, and GL all live in Community Suite. Combining them in one view is where the built-in reporting runs out. I build cross-module reports and dashboards that refresh themselves, including fund activity, donor engagement, multi-year gift and grant history, and fund documentation status. New reports take hours, not weeks.
Automation and API integrations
I've been building production integrations on the Community Suite API since its release. I use it to keep Community Suite in sync with your other systems, automate bulk updates that staff now do by hand, and build self-service tools such as on-demand mailing lists, so people can get what they need without filing a request.
Migrations, onto or off the platform
I've moved foundations from Raiser's Edge and FIMS onto Community Suite, and I can just as easily move your data out of it. Whichever direction you're going, nothing gets lost, records are checked against the source, and your staff can find their data on day one.
Recent work
A full CRM migration, without outside consultants
I moved a large community foundation from Raiser's Edge NXT to Community Suite. That covered more than 300,000 records across 15+ data types, with no downtime and no outside consulting spend, finished in four months. The same foundation's previous CRM migration took nine months and more than $650,000 in consulting fees.
A reporting layer the platform doesn't have
I built a reporting database that rebuilds every night from a complete copy of the foundation's Community Suite data. About two dozen reports run on it every morning, and staff use custom web apps on top of it that sign in with their existing Microsoft accounts.
Fund compliance tracking
I designed tools to track documentation, stewardship, and required distributions for every endowed and donor-advised fund. They let leadership confirm that each fund is being run the way its donor intended.
Who I work with
- Foundations already on Community Suite that have outgrown the standard reports, or that have a backlog of "can we automate this?" requests.
- Foundations moving to Community Suite that want the migration done right the first time.
- Foundations moving off Community Suite that need a complete, clean export of their data and a smooth hand-off to the new platform.
About Mitch
I'm Mitch Hollberg, and I run Morrison Analytics. For several years I worked inside a large community foundation as its data strategist. I managed its Raiser's Edge and Community Suite migrations, built its reporting, and automated the work its staff used to do by hand. That's why I understand both sides: how Community Suite stores your data, and what your philanthropy, grants, and finance teams need from it.
Before nonprofits, I spent 15 years in the corporate world doing reporting and operations automation at Hewlett Packard, Borders Bookstores, and Accenture. I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in Economics from Rice University, and an MBA with High Distinction from the University of Michigan.
